Build a shroud to house a new 40� TV, hook it up, install
a new satellite dish for DIRECTV, and wire in the
receiver DVR. I contracted for Gary Swaim to add a shelf
and a vent hole in the top of the compartment to vent hot
air up, out and back into the coach because the DIRECTV
receiver/DVR was running hot. I also told Gary (who said
he was an engineer) the receiver needed to go on the top
shelf to take advantage of the free convection hot
airflow to create a chimney effect, and to size it at 4�
so a fan could be added if additional cooling was needed
for the receiver/DVR.

Evaluation of Service Performed:  
|
Here is what I received: The TV shroud came out just OK,
the decorative screws they used to put it together could
have been better placed, and not on radiused surfaces
that shows gaps under the heads of the screws. The
compartment itself turned out good but the receiver/DVR
was installed on the bottom shelf not the top as
instructed and the satellite controls which generate no
heat were on the top shelf. This meant that the
receiver/DVR would run even hotter than it had before I
took it to Gary. When I picked the coach up I brought up
the fact that the Receiver was not right and that the
locations needed to be switched. The wife and I were
leaving for vacation so Gary said when we got back to
bring it back and he would take care of it. That was 8
months ago and numerous calls, voice mails and emails
ago. The one time I did reach him he said he was too busy
and he told me to do it myself. The satellite dish he
installed in now making a noise that does not sound right
and again I left more messages, and again no reply. I
just found out they are not an approved installer for
Wineguard satellite products according to them even though
SMCW�s website references the products.
