We were thankful that Hal Burns Truck would take a look at our RV this past week when we started having problems with our
transmission not shifting out of first. We had called a transmission shop and they said it sounded like something simple
that Hal Burns could handle. They mentioned a sensor problem or the fan clutch. Both of which I told Hal Burns.
They test drove it (maybe 15 min. tops), checked the fluid and hooked up a diagnostic computer (maybe 20 min tops). On
their bill they charged $203.75 labor for the test drive and checking the fluid. They also charged $100 to hook up the
diagnostic computer which was not able to pull any codes. So for around 30 min or so of trying to figure out what to do
they charged $303.
They generously offered to let us stay in their lot over night so they could continue the next day. At this point we had
NOT seen the charges for the current day as we would NOT have stayed if we saw how they operated.
The next day they recommended a transmission fluid flush but cautioned it might not solve the problem because they did not
know what was wrong. We agreed to the flush.
They attempted to flush but could not so blew out the transmission cooler line and then flushed. They ended the flush while
the fluid was still coming out dirty because they were worried they were using too much fluid. So we didn't even get a
proper flush.
They had not at this stage ordered the replacement filter so then they waited around for that to be delivered. They had the
wrong one delivered so then waited for a different one to be delivered.
They put in synthetic transmission fluid without asking us. They felt that the fluid did not need to be put in up to the
hot mark because it was synthetic.
For this they charged $719.13. When we questioned the bill they mentioned the two test drives the guy had done, before and
after the work.
So for $1,158.01 they replaced our transmission fluid with very costly synthetic fluid.
I asked the cost to replace the transmission and they said about $3200. But because we felt they were really over charging
us for the fluid flush we decided to take the RV home and have it worked on there.
I just wanted to warn other about the unethical practices of this shop. We were obviously naive not to ask the charge every
step of the way but we have had work done twice while on the road and had never felt we were taken advantage of this way.
If they had said $100 to test drive. $100 to hook up the diagnostic computer. $100 to check the fluid level & $719 to flush
and refill the fluid we never would have gone to this shop.

We got home and asked Advanced Auto Parts what to do. They sold us a $35 sensor that we installed in less than a half hour
which fixed the problem. Apparently we have a very common transmission, 4L80E. Even the guy at the auto parts store knew how
to fix this.

I drive a Dynaquest DQ 340XL. Had an LP leak and check engine light. Was warned that they were very backed up and it might
take a day or 2 before they could get to me. I showed up at 7:30, they had me out of there by 4:30. Fixed the leak and ran
diagnostics on the codes

Fuel system was down, brakes were gone rats had destroyed wiring under the motorhome. Rats are a big concern to RVer's in New Mexico.

Bill, our technician, diagnosed a dash A/C problem we had and repaired it, leaking high pressure hose. Also checked our brakes and found a long
standing coolant leak in the engine.

GREAT JOB! This is a great place to get engine work done, but I think they also work on suspension, brake and other issues one might have with the
mechanical systems of an RV. Bill is a great technician who is always willing to answer questions. Very friendly place too. Not fancy, but you cannot
beat the quality of the work.

This is a GREAT place. Don't let appearances fool you. They don't take appointments, but will work you in.
Hal Burns has highly skilled mechanics and everyone there is a pleasure to work with. They go out of their way to answer questions and let you know what they are doing. Fixed both the dash air and generator. I will be back for routine engine and drive train service.

We had some perplexing issues with our engine bucking and surging that were not corrected by treating the fuel and
changing filters. Computer diagnostics were not helpful, so our tech traced all the electrical connections, sensors, fuel connections, fuel pressure and vacuum pressure and
checked for restriction in fuel line. He determined that the lift pump in the Racor/Winn 2020 fuel filter was
not working. He replaced the housing with a standard water separator fuel filter.

This was the kind of job where we were grateful to have a MECHANIC working on the coach and not just a "parts changer". Our tech really knew what he was doing and attacked the problem with methodical precision. Burn's
labor rate might be standard for the area, but it is very reasonable compared to what we have seen elsewhere. This job took a long time to diagnose and a short time to
actually repair. We were totally happy with the facility. they have 50 amp power and plugged us in the 2 nights
we spent in their secure lot.

Replaced, customer supplied, external A/C unit on our 5th wheel trailer. Used fork truck to lift new unit to roof and remove old unit. Most of other units in yard were class A's but they also were working on a truck camper.

Well done, they had all the tools necessary and were able to fit us in among their other work when our A/C unit arrived from factory. Total elapsed time for repair was 1 hour. The local RV dealer could not fit us in until a month later.

The shop did great work. They called Workhorse and got them to pay for the kit that includes plug wires and tubes to allow cooler air to get to the plug wires. I had to pay labor but it was VERY reasonable. Work was done fast and was treated very well. Good family run shop.
